The Jeep YJ made huge leaps forward over it’s predecessors when it comes to the tops offered. The CJs and other Jeeps that came before all used snaps to keep the top on your Jeep, but the YJ pioneered a channel system that allowed the top to fit snugly and stay put. No more struggling to put your top on in cold weather – this new system makes it a breeze.
There are a number of YJ tops available, including both factory and aftermarket offerings, and at Jeep Wrangler Parts.com we review all the popular models.
If you live in a cold, hot, or crime prone location, you may want to look into a hardtop. These cost quite a bit more, but tend to make your YJ more civilized. Keep in mind that if you have a hardtop you’ll need some strong friends to help removed and install it, as well as space to store it when not in use.
